Parking meeting at the DVLA
[6 June 2012] Our research director Martin Cutts will meet chiefs at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency on 6 June to ask why they have let the private parking companies trample over the rights of millions of motorists whose names and addresses the agency has flogged to them.
Martin’s article on the parking industry, which focuses on its appalling signage and threatening letters, is downloadable here.
As he parked his car, carefully, at Stockport station for the long train journey to Swansea, Martin said, ‘This is an unregulated £160million-a-year industry whose main products are misery and confusion. It hounds motorists into paying phoney fines that, at up to £150 a time, are out of all proportion to the supposed breaches of the rules these firms concoct.’
Martin has also been invited to address a parking industry conference on 10 July at the Kia Oval, London, organized by Parking Review magazine.
