Scale of charges
Our clear pricing structure means you always know our maximum charge at the outset. We'll normally invoice you when we send our initial edits. We'll refund 30% of the fee if, eventually, we decide the document doesn't meet the criteria for accreditation.

Others by estimate — please ask.
We charge the above rates (+ VAT), with the following variations:
- Your organization's first use of the scheme attracts a £75 discount.
- We may charge 20% extra if you send your first draft as a PDF — this reflects the extra time we normally have to take when using Acrobat software instead of Word.
- If you apply to accredit a series of documents, we'll give a discount of at least 10%.
- If we make few editing suggestions, we'll give a light-editing discount of at least 10%.
- If you prefer an estimate instead of relying on the above rates, please say so when you send your draft.
- If your organization is a corporate member, we'll apply a 20% corporate membership discount in addition to any series or light-editing discounts. See Corporate membership.
- If the document falls outside the above rates, either because it's more than 13,500 words or very complex, we'll send a no-obligation estimate before starting work.
- If a document alters substantially (and not as a result of our edits) between our initial suggestions and our final check, we may charge an extra fee. We'll always quote for this in advance, based on £70/hr + VAT.
No extra charge for editing, proofreading or the logo — it's all included
Our rates include all our editing and proofreading, as well as the use of the logo. Beware of other accreditation schemes charging you £600 or more for their logo alone. With us, there's nothing nasty in the small print. We never have and never will charge extra for using ‘track changes’.
Aftercare for accredited documents
If you want to alter a document but keep the accreditation, the procedure is simple:
- If the changes are trivial, we don't need to see them first but we would like to have a copy of the document when it has been reprinted.
- If the changes are significant in meaning or more than a few words, please send us the document at final draft stage, with alterations marked. This safeguards the integrity of the scheme. We'll check them and may suggest amendments. A fee will be payable only if we have to do more than half an hour's work on the document, in which case we'll charge £70/hr + VAT.
If we receive a complaint about the clarity of an accredited document, we'll answer it and send you a copy of our reply. We've received only 3 complaints in 12 years.
